In a relatively short history of Next-Gen Sequencing, BGI has become one of the key players in providing genome sequencing services. BGI made huge splashes in 2010 with its purchase of 128 Illumina HiSeq 2000 sequencers as soon as Illumina unveiled it and by settings its foot on american soil at Boston, MA.
As part of its aggressive effort to be the leader in offering Next Gen sequencing solution, BGI is offering exome sequencing promotion until 31st August 2012. Need less to say the BGI’s exome sequencing will be done using Illumina HiSeq 2000 (using Agilent SureSelect 51M exome Capture kit).
BGI’s exome sequencing sale costs $1799 per sample and offers to provide exome sequencing data at 100X coverage per sample. BGI is also offering a higher data density promotion at the price of $2599 per sample. The $2599 per sample sequencing offer gives 200X coverage.
The promotion is valid only on human samples and for US and Europe customers only. These two exome sequencing promotions are available from BGI’s labs located at BGI Hong Kong or BGI@CHOP Joint Genome Center (Philadelphia, PA).
BGI’s typical turn around times for small number of exome sequencing is around 4 months. With $50 additional cost per sample for 100X coverage ($100 more for 200X coverage), BGI is also offering a faster turn around timing of around 4 to 6 weeks.
